The preparation of edamame is quick and straightforward. Harvest the soybeans at the peak of ripeness, when they have not yet become too hard. At this point, cook them, usually boiling, and the consume them.
The edamame is a preparation based on raw soybeans, boiled and served. The bean is cooked and when is still inside the pod, it is served to the table still warm.
Not really widespread in Europe, but abroad, Japan and China always in the lead, is consumed much more.
